Dear World Travelers,
Our supplier in Bulgaria continues to dream up new and exciting ways to explore the Balkans. Here’s what our travelers are saying:
We keep talking about how great our trip to the Balkans was last fall. It was truly beyond compare with all we saw and did.
-Bob and Lois Woodmansey (2013)
This “quick-trip” is like no other! We’ll discover five countries in just two weeks with no visas required for U.S. citizens. Just look at the map below to get a glimpse at all we’ll see.
We’ll begin and end our trip in the comfort of our lovely hotel in Sofia. Before venturing out of Bulgaria we’ll see the exceptional Rila Monastery and charming Melnik. In Macedonia see a one-of-a-kind church near Strumitsa and the ancient ruins of Stobi. In the newest state of Europe - Kosovo - we see a once war-torn area where monasteries and mosques have stood for centuries. Cross the border into Montenegro where the Adriatic Coastline sparkles and the Byzantines and others came ashore and left their mark. Two nights in Albania will give us time for a cultural event and an excursion to the coastal town of Durres with its Roman amphitheater that could once hold 15,000 visitors for gladiator games. Finally, we head back east to Macedonia’s beautiful Lake Ohrid region. Churches dot the shoreline, and of the nearly one for every day of the year, we’ll visit a few.
There’s too much to mention here from the exquisite architecture, captivating frescoes and impressive monuments to the seaside views, river gorges and rolling hills. Many of the photos are from the two tours David Lewis has taken with us. See his enticing photos of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania here https://www.flickr.com/photos/dslewis/sets/.
Call today to reserve your space and let us show you the charm of the Balkans.
